"The Road"

I bought Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" and read it this week. It's pretty short and I got so into it that I couldn't set it down. It's truly a good piece of work, I read a review on it awhile ago and it was selling like wildfire on amazon plus Oprah endorsed it. So I had to read it. I wasn't let down.

The books about a Father and Son who are traveling South in a post apocalyptic era. The book is frightening as it goes into details of what actions mankind goes through to survive. The whole time my mind was spinning and it really made me think about the characters and their faith in God. This whole thing is imaginary obviously but it was inspiring to see these Characters still believing, still trusting in a God after something so horrendous had happened. This wasn't really a theme in the book, but there are a few characters that brought around this thought in my mind. It must be easy for people who've undergone some terrible times to stop loving God . I wonder if lots of Jews abandoned God or just stopped loving him during WW2. I wonder, I wonder, I wonder.....so many wondering questions.

I've got more thoughts on this book but they are more fun to discuss with somebody who has read the book. Go buy the book and then let's talk.
